Cadillac ATS new pitching driving enthusiasts and techno geeks, so it's only fitting that the safety equipment on the new sedan has few rivals, even above the price point.
All ATS sedan comes with a strong core, carried by eight airbags - including dual front knee airbags - and traction and stability control, and active headrests. Bluetooth is standard, but the rearview camera is not offered on the base car, except for the CUE package optioned.
CUE is itself a larger discussion in our Features section. In terms of safety, it is the price of futurism. No doubt, using period interface, infotainment, is a nuisance, but the CUE is neater integration of smartphones and voice control than we have ever seen. And maybe, in the long run, it is more secure than a poorly integrated systems.
More choices certainly safe-boosting include adaptive cruise control, front and rear automatic braking that can prevent or reduce the impact on low speed, a lane departure warning system is paired with a vibrating haptic seat bottom cushion when the car crossed into the opposite lane and blind -spot monitor with cross-traffic alert. ATS can also be equipped with a head-up display, configured to setup the driver's favorite, whether they belong to the posted speed limits, tachometer, or navigation. Rear side airbags are the ultimate choice is usually not seen in the domestic luxury sedan, but it is often found in German luxury four-door.
ATS has a standard OnStar. With GPS and cellular connections, they can contact emergency services in the event of an accident. It can also be associated with mobile applications myCadillac doing all sorts of functions, from remind you where you parked, to set service appointments.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has not assessed ATS, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has awarded five stars overall.
