The 2013 Honda Odyssey has the bragging rights that may be enough to influence many safety-minded family shoppers: It's one of the few major vehicle for achieving top rankings from both U.S. security agencies.

In the federal government's New Car Assessment Program (NCAP), Odyssey has achieved results in the top five-star crash-test every category, while also getting top 'good' ratings in each category Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) testing (although not tested in a small test-new frontal overlap). It earned IIHS Top Safety Pick status last year and is expected to retain the award.

Odyssey includes the expected safety features, such as stability control, anti-lock brakes, driver and front passenger airbags side, and full-length side curtain, but what makes it stand out is that it offers aa class-leading six child-seat tether locations and five LATCH locations (official clip). What it means is that you can fit a child seat up to five in some cases - or any seats up to four.

Both handling and visibility outside in front of the class, we think, and they both attributes which might help avoid accidents. And for 2013, the new rearview camera system is standard on all trims Odyssey.
