All-new in 2012, and a new convertible variants are available for 2013, the Volkswagen Beetle is not what you think - it's better.

The New Beetle that preceded the current Beetle is loved by the press and public alike with the introduction of technology, and for many, the love story continues, but in fact, good design and packaging imposed by the architecture has been raised from time to time. It's all done with now - 2013 Beetle is both his own car and at the same time, bound firmly with his past.

With a more masculine design is intended to bring more people into the fold - without losing the woman who loves it so much last Beetle - new cars draw more heavily on Bug prototypical, but sift through the lens thoroughly modern.

The three main variants available: five-cylinder base model, turbocharged four-cylinder for those with a taste for the performance, and the turbodiesel, efficient fun. All three are available in both coupe and convertible form.

The Beetle Turbo is a player of the group, slicing up to 60 mph in less than 7.5 seconds with a 200-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine. Even sounds the part, with a throaty exhaust note and little turbo whine. Opt for the dual clutch transmission-a six-speed manual and you will get the shift easily, although you may see a slight bog withdraw from a stop. Body roll is not significant, especially given the comfortable ride and composed handling, if not quite full-on sporty.

The most practical option, in some cases at least, is the Beetle TDI diesel fueled. With a 41-mpg highway rating her, no question efficient. You can choose from a six-speed manual or six-speed DSG automatic with TDI.

For those looking for the least expensive entry Beetle range, there are 170-horsepower, 2.5-liter five-cylinder base model. Although not nearly as fast as the Turbo Beetle, it was still fresh, and like other Beetles, ride and handle well.

Pretty good passenger space in the front, with plenty of head, leg and shoulder room, whether you're talking coupe or convertible. Trunk space is pretty good in all versions, although the convertible lost a little space for the wind deflector is folded, which stows in a rack in the upper luggage compartment.

In the features department, Beetle covers the basics, with USB, Bluetooth, and audio upgradable available on all models. Various special editions, grouped by their homage to the decade of the 50's, 60's, and 70's, offers a unique appearance package, and a special edition Fender added some interior flair and great sound systems. A sunroof (in the coupe models), navigation, and stereo upgrades are rolled into the line to cut.

In more than 70 years and only a third-generation Beetle has as much baggage as well as history - but these new models do their best to continue the good while spending badly, and, for the most part, pull it out.
