Compass was originally panned for simple styling and chintzy interior, but that changed a few years ago, when Chrysler tweak a simple design, just enough to give a makeover as 'mini-Grand Cherokee' but not enough to overcome a rather low-rent look and feel of interior.
Although Compass 2013 still looks a little awkward from some angles, nips and tucks to work wonders, and now even somewhat attractive on the outside. The same proportion as before, with smooth lines and a boxy rear wheelwell-pillar upkick preserved. The front end is basically a smaller version of the Grand Cherokee is softer, while the taillamps also been softened. Overall, the Compass has a display, slimmer vaguely classy from several angles, but from others there is little ungainliness.
With the last refresh, Compass also got in a spruce-up, but not as extensive makeover given to the interior of the Dodge Journey crossover, this one still looks cheapish. This is the look-and it's instantly appealing and functional in appearance if not always touching. Compass is not enough to get a total makeover and Chrysler Jeep some products have received over the past year or two. There are better materials and a cleaner look, but it definitely was done on a budget. Optional leather seats get contrast piping-which is odd ode to luxury vehicles in one that has a lot of clear plastic-chrome accents.
