With the new security features that are available at various levels of trim, the 2013 Ram 1500 might actually improve real-world security than previous versions. But that previous versions had some difficulty in crash tests from both institutions do them regularly, while the new frame design can result in a significant increase - so we've been given a new truck score relatively moderate until further data are available.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has not been tested for side impact 1500 Ram, but give this truck a 'good' rating for frontal impact. Unfortunately the roof strength score only "marginal," and the roof is only able to withstand 2.97 times its weight, it is actually below the standards for passenger cars. Model year assessed only marginal for the safety side, too.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has been providing the Quad Cab and Crew Cab versions of the Ram 1500 four stars overall, although it has not been extended three-star side-impact score last year for the model 2013.
This year, the Ram 1500 returned with mandatory airbags, anti-lock brakes, traction and stability control. All models now come with hill-start assist, which maintains braking until the gas is moving on an uphill climb, and trailer-sway control, which uses the anti-lock braking to reduce the effects induced wobbling when towing.
In the list of features, all models offer a rearview camera either as an option or as standard equipment, rear parking sensors are available or standard on all body styles except the regular-cab version. The more expensive Laramie Longhorn edition and also offer customized pedal, a boon for shorter drivers in particular. Blind-spot detectors are not offered, but a large, folding side mirrors improve visibility Trailer, mostly very good - although we still recommend the rearview camera for high-Ram tailgate.
The new UConnect System Access Ram trucks also link to 911 emergency services, in case of an accident.
