Overall 2013 Kia Optima

Kia Optima models are entering the third year since the transformation was far above catapulted past bland and successful, surprisingly, one of the most advanced, best-looking, best, and most complete (for money) mid-size sedan on the market. And even a few years later, it looks like the competition is not fully captured.

That may change this year, when a number of rival Optima - such as the Honda Accord, Nissan Altima, and Ford Fusion - is due for a full redesign. While we will fill in more details about the alternatives in the coming months, the Optima is not at all look dated or are not ready for a battle of new markets. Crisp, distinct styling direction is almost the opposite of the view, the statue was more fertile and the entire lineup of Hyundai Sonata sedan, which is closely related. With a sporty, European detailing, a low roofline, stretched headlamps and nice upkick behind, it's focused and interesting, with athletic stance and some flashy wheel design. Inside, the Optima does not make waves in the same way, but it was noticeable, cockpit classy minimalist, reminiscent of the interior Audi a few years ago, a vast rectangular bank tilt control to the driver.

There are three different flavors to the performance of Optima - all inclusive four-cylinder engine under the hood - and each serves different types of drivers. The base car has a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with direct injection, 200 horsepower and just a touch of noise and vibration mediocre when it cuts out. A six-speed manual is offered, we have tested the six-speed automatic, a team of four. On top of the complexity curve is a Hybrid, a team on the basis of four-cylinder with an electric motor and a battery which, in our opinion, could use more work to refine and integrate the juddering that sometimes comes at midrange speeds, when the hybrid drivetrain drops gas power to operate on electric charge alone. With all powertrains, highway gas mileage of 33 mpg minimum hits in turbos, with a four-cylinder-star hit 35 mpg and 39 mpg for the hybrid reaches rated. We've had trouble hitting the high water mark hybrids, but the base Optima offers repeatable, real-world gas mileage tops in its class, and the same with some economy cars.

No matter which you choose the machine, Optima rides and handles well with independent suspension, giving the Optima feel, fast agile. The key to it is the electric power steering is somehow tuned way more fun than the Sonata, it was appropriate but requires a little bit of adjustment on the highway. Quality of the ride is on the firm side, but comfortable enough, and calm on the surface rough.

Interior Optima offers rear-seat space is good - enough for three in all - although the roofline can make getting in and out a little harder. The front seats in the Optima also has a TV, a short cushions, which can be cut into other types of long-distance comfort Accord gives many miles away. But with heated and cooled front seats are available - heated rear seats, too - Optima and rear seats can be heated, too.

With top safety ratings from the IIHS (including the new Top Safety Pick + rating) and the federal government will carry over, 2013 Kia Optima is one of the family-car picks the most secure. A Bluetooth interface is standard, available rearview camera system. And of course the features remain a strength throughout the Kia lineup. It's a lot of value for money, with standard power features, cruise control, USB port and satellite radio. Even mid-level EX trims get things like dual-zone climate control and a smart-key system, with the option of leather trim, panoramic sunroof and Infinity audio. Infotainment is the only drawback Optima features list. UVO, Kia flavors of Microsoft-written software is also sold as the Ford SYNC, has a voice command system is less than the Ford, but the issue is that if you want this system, you can not get the navigation system. And if you get the nav, you'll get the same simple Bluetooth system which bases Optimas have.
