2012 Honda Accord is no longer refreshed mid-size sedan - it's due for a full redesign in a year or two. But the current version remains one of the best options in this class for interior space, styling, ride comfort, performance, and features - all with, feel economically sensible, value-minded.

In a crowded field of mid-size sedan, the Accord still managed to stand out on a test drive. Whether you choose the sedan or coupe, four-cylinder or V-6, the Accord offers a satisfactory overall performance and is one of the better-handling vehicle in this class. Four-cylinder models are brave enough, and very smooth, you will not need a V-6 unless you plan to transport people or cargo. But with it, including active noise cancellation which cuts the gain, the Accord feels more like a luxury car at times, and you will find the entire lineup responsive steering, good body control and strong brakes. Gas mileage has long been a strength for the Accord, too, but the numbers are lower than the new Hyundai Sonata and Kia Optima.

Most buyers will find the interior layout Accord refreshing compared to the competition, at least from a distance. Last year Honda gave some control fresh look and feel, the Accord's rakish instrument panel looks great, but the placement of buttons and controls sometimes feel as if it was done more for style than ergonomics.

Interior space remains a strength for the Honda Accord. Meanwhile, mid-size sedan with the eyes of most, it qualifies as a large car by the EPA - and the interior feels really great car for the driver and passenger accommodating. The front seats are comfortable and supportive, there is plenty of legroom in the back, and a big trunk.

Accord is just as well equipped as any of its competitors, with a significant red flag: It can be frustrating if you want some important technological features such as Bluetooth hands-free, but do not want to 'work.' While for 2012 Honda has just made a standard USB connector on the lineup, you still can not get the factory Bluetooth hands-free option unless you step up to the EX-L to state-of-the-line, with leather and navigation. Nav systems have a large eight-inch screen and now includes Zagat restaurant ratings, voice recognition and rearview camera system.
