The 2013 Mitsubishi Lancer models get excellent safety ratings from both agencies in the United States, and with a good list of standard safety ratings plus crisp, responsive handling, this model has a lot to protect you well when the accident occurred or avoiding one altogether .
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has awarded an 'excellent' ranking at the top of the Lancer to the frontal offset, side impact and rear impact tests, along with the roof strength test. And in the federal tests, the sedan and Lancer Sportback both achieved four stars in the categories of both frontal and side crash, for an overall rating of four (out of five) stars.

Agency does not extend these results to Evolution and Ralliart models. Evolution has its own exclusive, stronger body structure and performance focused.

We would recommend that you look at the visibility out on a test drive. Because the Lancer a bit high beltline and thick rear pillars, it can be difficult for some to look out for when changing lanes or backing up (higher driver will not have a problem).

Front side airbags, side-curtain bags, and a driver's knee airbag are included in all models of Mitsubishi Lancer, along with anti-lock brakes and electronic stability control.
