2013 Lexus CT 200h, now entering mid-life, offers a spacious interior to offer a compact Lexus cars only. With only two occupants, the rear seat backs can be folded flat, providing roomy cargo area for couples.
The position of the driver's seat is excellent, with an attitude, which is still rather low sporty offering headroom and legroom is good. Engineers and interior designers to make sure that the 'H-point' of the front passenger seat-height front hip 'joint-fact under the center of mass of the car. Otherwise, the front seats themselves are very comfortable and supportive.
The CT has little interior space than the Toyota Prius, because it was about four inches shorter in wheelbase, and nearly six inches shorter overall, the rear seats do not offer much space for the legs, and the higher rider will find headroom tight too. With the seatbacks up, there is enough space for large loads of food, along with a standard retractable cargo cover that helps keep valuables out of sight.
This little hybrid hatchback offers a lot of flexibility, too. Its 60/40-split seatbacks fold forward in one fluid motion, providing a flat cargo floor that is slightly higher than in the comparable gas hatchbacks, but low enough to allow sufficient height to carry small pieces of furniture, for example.
Storage space for odds and ends as well, with lots of little drawers inside. A large, shallow tray cargo smartphone neatly fits just inches from the USB input and power plug. One oversight - which suggests CT was not originally designed for North America - is the lack of cupholders for rear-seat passengers. Lexus crowd might not buy a lot of big gulps.
Materials borrowed from the rich cabin seem pricier Lexus models, but some details closer uber-luxe pampering impression. Old-style LCD screen on the basis of the sound system does not match the font or display used for climate control. Then there's the chrome shift lever, a magnet for fingerprint smudges. Parking brake pendant style screams "old Chevy" more than "fancy Lexus," and the center-console look cheap and plastic-feeling hollow as well.
Some users would like the Touch-controller remote computer like a mouse that requires drivers to keep their eyes on the center dash display every time they use it - while others will long for a touch screen, touchpad, or a different controller with tactile feedback.
The 2013 CT 200h is very quiet most of the time, with almost no road noise or wind speeds, where it was more quiet than other luxury compacts. That, however, produces a surprising amount of engine noise during hard acceleration, which compromised the impression of calm.
