Are you ready for a four-cylinder Mercedes-Benz? Well, we hope you say yes to it, because it's already here. Last year the luxury car manufacturer to bring to market the first four of the United States in nearly a decade. Coinciding with extensive refresh for the lineup overall, the result is a Class C model line is more fuel efficient, modern in look and feel, and fully up to snuff in connectivity and safety-tech.
You will see the details of the new C Class sedan received last year, but it's not a stretch to say that the design of the former essentially taken. With careful retouch, Class C can still have in Luxury or Sport guise, with treatment Sport stands out for its unequivocal emblem, salad-plate sized grating barrel. An all-new Coupe lineup is great news, with some front-end same details but with the roof line, abbreviated more aggressive, Coupe took the tactic itself has definitely looks like one of the family. In the good model, Class C has the look, sporty modern with metal trim was revised, it was not designated as Class S, but the look is right for those cross-shopping A4 or 3-Series.
With the basic C 250 model you get the turbo-charged, direct-injected 1.8-liter four-cylinder, rated at 201 horsepower and 229 pound-feet of torque. This engine fuel-efficient and fun, and it actually feels faster than the previous V-6 C 300 (officially 7.1 seconds to 60 mph is the same). C 250 is available in rear-wheel drive, a seven-speed automatic transmission to change gears. In the middle, C 300 4Matic models get their motivation from a new 248-hp, 3.5-liter V-6 and again offered with a seven-speed automatic. A 302-hp version of the engine the same smooth 3.5-liter, making 273 pounds-feet of torque is installed in the C 350 model. At 5.9-second to 60 mph, they're fast, but not so surprising. As with its companion, the rear-drive C 350 is only available with a seven-speed automatic transmission.
Up at the top of the lineup stand C 63 AMG Coupe, which can be up to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds thanks to very quickly to 451-horsepowe, 443-pound-foot 6.2-liter V-8 engine. It's not all about straight-line performance, however, with a highly adjustable suspension, which improves the performance of C 63 to something equivalent to the benchmark class, the BMW M3.
Class C models provide maximum comfort for front occupants, but they are in the back, even if they get in, it will be left wedging their feet against the back of the front seat if you're looking sedan or coupe. In all fairness, when looking at rival models such as the Audi A4 or BMW 3-Series, it's just how it is in this class. You tend to hear the engine a bit, but the road noise is silenced much better than the C Class models in a small sport sedan.
Mercedes-Benz continues to sell Class C in two main lines trim, Luxury and Sport, who received a number of details that can give them a different look dramatically. If you're unsure between two rows, choose first by the appearance, such as the basic feature set of each option you can otherwise choose to build whatever you want. Standard equipment on the base C250 even includes dual-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth hands-free calling, Bluetooth streaming audio, cruise control, Homelink universal garage door opener, and a power tilt / slide sunroof.
New for 2013 is the mbrace2 telematics generation and concierge system, which now includes mobile apps for remote horn and light operation and Valet Protect function, and Speed Alert, Driving Journal, and services Curfew Minder. There are also applications for the Google Local Search, Facebook, and Yelp, among others.
