Thanks to modern direct-injection 3.3-liter V-6 engine and six-speed automatic transmission, the Azera reached quite impressive EPA ratings - from 20 mpg city, 29 highway, for a combined figure of 23 mpg. And no need to worry about premium fuel.
As in other Hyundai models, the Eco Active smoothes out the accelerator input, the transmission shift changes, and running the accessory more conservative, saving seven percent in real-world fuel economy, according to Hyundai.
What Hyundai Azera does not offer in the other models in this class are hybrid versions do. Lexus ES and Toyota Avalon both offer a fuel-efficient hybrid system, while the Buick LaCrosse is equipped with the eAssist mild-hybrid system that reaches 37 mpg highway rating.
Note: The 2013 Azera is one of a series of vehicles were found to have excessive fuel economy numbers. Hyundai originally submitted figures of 20/30 mpg by the EPA. The agency since found that fuel economy is actually tested to be 20/29 mpg. Owners can sign up with Hyundai to receive reimbursement for gas consumed above and beyond the level expected, more details are found in HyundaiMPGInfo.com.
