Partly because of the BMW 7-Series is a relatively rare (and very expensive models), has not been crash-tested by either the U.S. security agencies in the current generation. But the reputation of 7-Series' to provide some of the best passenger safety - as well as some of the most advanced security technology in the world - making it a very safe bet.
Each 7-Series gets standard front, side, and side-curtain airbags, rear-seat side airbags, front-seat active head restraints, and a knee airbag. Anti-lock brakes, traction and stability control, of course, and BMW also fits rearview camera, 180-degree front-view camera and parking sensors to assist drivers in maintaining a clear 7-Series-parking problems.
New for 2013 is the increase in system Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go, which will bring the vehicle to a complete stop if the driver does not react to the traffic stop in time. Also, a standard system Attention Assist monitors the driver's behavior and shows a cup of coffee if it detects unsafe levels of fatigue.
All-wheel-drive 7-Series models include standard hill descent control - in this case, not for the amazing traction off-road, but to control the car ice, messy way.
A Driver Assistance Package still available, bundling together blind-spot detection, lane departure warning system (which vibrates the steering wheel when the car drifts from its lane) and automatic high-beam lights.
As much as we like the head-up display is available in Series 7 - (it's better done than the efforts of the other car), we probably would have missed simply because it tends to mess up view of the road ahead. As well as night vision systems, which can be proved as disturbing as it is helpful.
