Sleek and glam, Jaguar XJ unlike the audience that just a few years ago. When switching to an all-aluminum body in model year 2004, he came up with overly conservative sheetmetal that was all but hidden from view new light.
With this form today, Jaguar could never return to the past, and for that, we say ... whew. 2013 XJ's all about showing off her body, to the point where some of the details could excessive use Chanel moment in front of the mirror.
It's very avant garde, the need to remove some accessories do not call her out on the first pass.
Some callback for next Rapide, XJ does everything to get rid of the past, and to recast many ultra-modern plant executive luxury sedan. Fender swells sync with the low roofline, and lattice arising in the spotlight right now, while the rear pillar sail almost invisible, when viewed in profile. It's interesting, and almost flawless - but the treatment is that the back roof pillars cries out for a black brushed-aluminum look. Bracket shaped LED taillamps spareness outgoing XJ rear end: it can seem too spare, or directly inspired by some of the greatness of Citroen. In the past, the first-generation Mercedes CLS struck us as the most non-Gallic French four-door XJ discerning false that status.
It's inside where the XJ could pare down some of the details of his fancy. This is a class wiki, but some details are underestimated by the finish. The large glass sunroof cabin soaks up the sun, play up the square feet of wood and chrome. Air vents bubbling-up, pop-up control transmission and bands of wood on the doors and dash tidy filter theme from another Jaguar, a well-known side adventure. A leather headliner, upgraded leather upholstery and laser-inlaid wood trim and new trim options nouveau luxury custom brought to the game.
In all it was a decadent to sit - but the liberal use of piano black plastic and metallic trim is one frontier flavor that may have been tripped. The stuff is a fingerprint magnet, sure. Then again, so is the Apple iPad. While we pick nits, XJ dashboard clearly saves time by keeping the structure of the used car. We will admire the efficiency and may even swallow styling lines of the big band of wood on the dashboard echoes the line luxury speedboat, but we are equally likely to see many Nissan Maxima with the way it carved much visual weight to the old dashboard.
You should also technophile if you plan to enjoy a delicious plate XJ electronics. Secondary gauges and controls all but left the real call for high-definition LCD screen that displays all the usual functions, while also subtle color change to indicate the mode of driving performance with a soft red glow. There is also an LCD touchscreen interface and function driver of climate, audio and navigation without using the keypad. It's all very Starship: Enterprise, Jefferson Starship at all in the way the old XJ might have handled the same gesture.
