Naming conventions aside recently, 2013 Lincoln MKZ could be called Atlas Lincoln, because Lincoln brand carries weight in her shapely shoulders. That's not to say that Lincoln did not have another product to sell, because the dealer showrooms filled with MKS and MKT models, but the MKZ is a pillar of the current potential of the Lincoln brand.
If all you know about the Lincoln Town Car comes from the now-retired, the MKZ could almost be called an anti-Lincoln. It is not too big in size stuffed faux-luxury, and a far more contemporary styling than the
Lincoln from the past. Gone is the front grill redundant, replaced by wing-shaped piece that is really tasty. The four-pointed star badge Lincoln still there and accounted for, but it is minimized and tastefully deployed.
We will call the clean, contemporary exterior design, our words may have a hard time using it in connection with Lincoln before. The
concept brought into the well, where the MKZ seems to have borrowed the theme of modern luxuries (such as the floating center console) from the likes of
Volvo, while paying attention to ingredients such as
Lexus. Adding further evidence to the argument that this is not your grandfather's Lincoln is a dominating center-stack LCD touchscreen, on hand to meet the needs of occupants infotainment ', or the shift lever is absent, it is replaced by a push button and Flappy paddle.
Two
engines are offered, including the base 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, which can be a little loud for a luxury car, but it provides an impressive 33 mpg on the highway. We chose is back 300-horsepower 3.7-liter V-6, which delivers performance that is more vibrant and smoother riding than the base engine. Either come mated to six-speed transmissions push-button automatic, with paddle shifters to appease those who want to row their own gears. Front-wheel drive is standard with both variants, but all-wheel drive is an available option.
Luxury buyers looking for fuel economy more impressive can also select 2013 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid, which combines a 2.0-liter engine with an electric motor and a continuously variable transmission (CVT) to provide a claimed 45 mpg combined, the city and the highway. We have not been cast out MKZ Hybrid 2013, but our experience with the Ford Fusion Hybrid which tells us to expect the same fuel economy in the range of 41-mpg.
The Lincoln MKZ is a driver, too, thanks to both weighted and responsive power steering and standard Lincoln Drive Control, which allows the driver to fine-tune suspension settings, steering, stability control, traction control and active noise-cancellation. If getting from point A to point B in the least amount of time is your mission, you will want to select the Sport setting, because Normal and Comfort settings a bit soft for spirited driving.
MKZ comes appointed, even in base trim. MyLincoln Touch and Sync standard
features such as leather seats, real wood trim, dual-zone automatic climate control and heated front seats and adjustable lumbar support powered by. The list of choices includes such safety focused add-ons that inflatable rear seat belts, adaptive cruise control, parking assist and lane keeping assist. Perhaps the most innovative option, however, is 15 square feet of cars sliding panoramic glass roof, which is drawn to provide both front and rear seat passengers view of the sky and fresh air.
The Lincoln MKZ is the best hope to attract these types of buyers are required to maintain the brand: young, innovative, prosperous and willing to think outside the box. If blood can bring new MKZ, Lincoln has a few years to launch products that will maintain the momentum and give MKZ owners something new and exciting to choose from when their lease expires. If the MKZ does not work, however, we can not help but wonder how many of the nine lives of Lincoln has been exhausted.
