The TDI is a diesel for fuel efficiency, with a rating of 42-mpg highway and 34 mpg combined EPA rating. Many owners reported TDI real world results that exceed the EPA, so it may be that the A3 diesel could be half again as fuel-efficient as petrol model, which is rated at 24 mpg combined - a low number today for a compact hatchback like anything.

Grip is good, as you'd expect from an Audi, though power steering is light and somewhat numb electric. Optional magnetic ride system improve ride comfort without compromising handling, and the second version was maneuverable and fast from behind the wheel. Relaxed highway cruising, too, making the A3 fun and versatile all-round vehicle for city dwellers who travel.

Inside, front seat occupants will enjoy the standard leather seats, despite the lack of support chair aside and sit pretty low in the cabin. But the rear seat riders may find the room a bit cramped. Takes four adults will require negotiations to keep the front seat far enough forward to accommodate long legs behind, and head room is not too generous either.
Although not the latest Audi design, instrument and control layout remains functional, stylish, and plush trimmed.
